Miss a £5 check-in and it's one £5 charge: £4.25 donated to Médecins Sans Frontières UK and a 75p Pledgd fee.

85% of every missed pledge is donated to the charity you chose, currently Médecins Sans Frontières (UK), registered charity no. 1026588. The other 15% is Pledgd's separate platform fee.

Make a pact with your mates

Pick a habit and how often, like run 3k three times a week. Anything you can say yes or no to before bed.

In a group, you all do your thing once today, or a set number of times each week by Sunday. You share one stake, £10 to £500, and each pick your own habit.

Solo works too: £2 to £100 for each missed check-in, for 4 to 16 weeks. Read the full guide

Seal it together

Everyone reads the pact and agrees to the shared stake. The week locks in at Monday 00:00 once two of you are in. Priya and Tom have sealed this one. You're the last to press.

Your card is saved, not charged. Nothing is charged up front.

Check in on your honour

Each time you do it, tap Check in. Nobody audits you. Your word is the record, and your buddies see it.

Priya runs before work. Tom goes to the gym at lunch. You run in the evening. Different habits, one target: 3 times by Sunday.

Your mates see every check-in

Each of you fits it in when you can, and the whole group sees the week fill in.

Tom skips Thursday, and by Sunday night he's on 2 of 3. That's a miss, and with a shared stake it costs the whole group the week.

What a miss costs

When the week is settled, each of you pays your own stake, once. Yours is £10, in one card payment: £8.50 donated to Médecins Sans Frontières UK and a £1.50 Pledgd fee.

  • Nothing charged up front. Only after a miss.
  • Nobody wins money. Not even your buddies.
  • Hit together, or pay together. Everyone agrees to the shared stake first.

Where the £8.50 goes

Every donation from a miss goes to Médecins Sans Frontières UK, passed on in regular monthly payments.

MSF's teams give medical care to people caught up in conflict, epidemics and disasters.

85% of every missed pledge is donated to the charity you chose, currently Médecins Sans Frontières (UK), registered charity no. 1026588. The other 15% is Pledgd's separate platform fee.

Back on it

Monday starts a fresh week, same stake, same target. Weeks carry on until you tap “I'm out next week”.

What a miss costs, in pounds

Every miss is your stake, taken as one card payment and split 85/15. Here is what that means for you.

  • Nothing charged up front. Signing up to a pact saves your card. It is charged only after a missed check-in.
  • One charge, two parts. Your emailed receipt shows the donation and the fee.
  • A clear maximum. On your own, the most you can be charged in a week is your stake times your scheduled days. A £5 stake on Monday, Wednesday and Friday is at most £15 a week, and the app shows it before you confirm. In a group, it's your stake, once for a Today pact or once a week for a weekly pact.
  • Nobody wins money. Missed stakes never go to other users, including your buddies.

Médecins Sans Frontières UK

MSF is a medical humanitarian charity. Its teams give medical care to people caught up in conflict, epidemics and disasters, and to people who can't otherwise get healthcare.

We started with one charity, so every donation from a miss goes to the same place.

85% of every missed pledge is donated to the charity you chose, currently Médecins Sans Frontières (UK), registered charity no. 1026588. The other 15% is Pledgd's separate platform fee.

Questions people ask first

See all questions

Is this gambling?

Pledgd is built so that nobody can win money. When you miss, 85% of your stake is donated to MSF UK and 15% is Pledgd's fee. Nothing goes to other users and there are no prizes.

Where exactly does my money go, and when?

A miss is one charge for your stake. On a £5 stake, £4.25 is donated to Médecins Sans Frontières UK and 75p is Pledgd's fee. We pass donations to MSF UK in regular monthly payments.

85% of every missed pledge is donated to the charity you chose, currently Médecins Sans Frontières (UK), registered charity no. 1026588. The other 15% is Pledgd's separate platform fee.

What if I'm ill?

Pause a solo pact in the app before the deadline: paused days are never charged. In a weekly pact, tap “I'm out next week” to sit the next week out. If you couldn't check in because you were seriously ill or dealing with an emergency or bereavement, email us within 14 days and we refund that charge. See refunds.

Who checks that I actually did it?

You do. Check-ins are on your honour, and in a group pact your buddies see each one.

Is my card safe?

Your card is saved by Stripe, our payment processor. Pledgd never sees your full card number. We only charge after a missed check-in, and we email you a receipt every time.

What if my buddy misses?

You each pick what you're doing, how often and by when: once today, or a set number of times a week. If anyone misses, everyone's stake is charged once each: 85% donated to MSF UK, 15% Pledgd's fee. If everyone hits it, nobody pays. Nobody ever receives anyone else's money.

How do I stop?

You can cancel within 14 days of signing up. After that, you can cancel a solo pact in the app and nothing is charged for the days after. In a weekly pact, tap “I'm out next week” any time before the Monday 00:00 lock and you're out from that Monday. A Today pact runs once, so there's nothing to stop after its day, and your right to cancel it ends at its 23:59 deadline.
